After it came to light that Richland County did not count more than 1000 votes in the 2018 election, Gov. Henry McMaster took action to replace all members of the Richland County Election Board.

State Rep. Seth Rose said he believes a new board and a new start may be the only way to get accountability from a board and a county election office that has seen its share of mistakes and snafu over the past decade. He also encouraged residents of Richland County to consider applying for the volunteer board positions.

"Here we are in 2019 and we're talking about votes being counted," says Representative Seth Rose, D-Richland. "You think about the sacrifices people have made to give people the right to vote and for someone to go and cast their ballot and it not be counted, that is a true travesty and it should not happen in 2019."
