On Jan. 15, bipartisan legislation called the Act to Establish Pay Equity was filed in the House by Rep. Wendy Brawley (D-Richland) and Sen. Katrina Shealy (R-Lexington) to address the pay gap between men and women in South Carolina.
Freshman Rep. Seth Rose announced he has signed on to co-sponsor the legislation. South Carolina is one of only four states in the nation that has not yet passed an equal pay law.
The bill has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee, where Rose is a newly-appointed member, and if passed will go a long way toward addressing pay inequity in South Carolina. To read the article about the legislation published in the Free Times, please click here.
