The state Department of Transportation released its findings of a traffic study it began in mid-February, and the results are conclusive - Columbia's Millwood Avenue is dangerous for pedestrians.

Over the past four years, three people have been killed trying to cross that street. Additionally, there have been more than 145 car accidents on that road over the past three years. The DOT's study went on to show that cars are not slowing down on the road, and pedestrians aren't committed to using crosswalks like they should.

Rep. Seth Rose said he will push for short-term solutions to be enacted immediately, like beacon crossing signals and more pedestrian islands throughout the busy street that attracts nearly 22,000 vehicles per day.
